Horror Movie World First Converts Crowds to Creatives

An innovative film production is offering undiscovered creative people the chance to become part of a new horror movie by submitting videos, images, artwork and music to a website launched this month.

Sept. 15, 2010 - PRLog -- Developed by award-winning independent producer Jonathon Green, Redd Inc invites everyday people with all levels of experience to participate in a movie for the entire world to see. Whether they are filming themselves acting in a scripted scene on their iPhone, composing spine-chilling music, or even designing artwork to grace the walls of the office-themed set, this world-first opportunity allows audiences to participate in the filmmaking process and put their artistic talent to use.

From terrified witness statements and faked deaths to music only a serial killer would listen to, hundreds of clips of user-generated content are currently being uploaded to the interactive website www.reddincthemovie.com, created by Peter Giles, Head of Digital Media at the Australian Film TV and Radio School. Website members vote to rank each other’s work and ultimately determine which content will make it into the final movie ahead of the looming Halloween submission deadline, midnight 31 October 2010.

“This is the first dramatic feature film in the world to incorporate user-generated content in this way, enabling regular people with creative ambition to hear their song played in a movie, or see a 30-second commercial they directed appear on a television in a scene,” said Jonathon Green, Redd Inc producer.

“We are looking for aspiring musicians, undiscovered actors, emerging directors, horror fans and visual artists from all over the world to submit a range of content to be woven into this movie in previously impossible ways. Whether it’s a short performance on a character’s webcam, artworks to appear on the villain’s desk or wall, and of course the essential mood element that underpins every horror film, music, there are opportunities for everyone with an unfulfilled creative urge.”

Due for release mid 2011, Redd Inc the movie is a horror revenge story featuring Redd, the “boss from hell”. It is set in the most horrific, terrifyingly evil place of all… the office! People keen to explore their creative side and participate in the film can view a range of scripts, scenarios and guidelines at the website to prepare their submissions.

“We’re proving that originality and imagination are in abundance on the Redd Inc website, and we’re also seeing people have a lot of fun with the horror genre, especially given the unique office setting. It is gratifying to watch people who don’t normally get a chance or who might not have the courage or time to express their creativity surprise themselves by stepping up. We are already seeing lots of inspired submissions and look forward to many more.” said Jonathon Green.

Redd Inc the movie is currently in production, directed by Daniel Krige (West) and co-written by Jonathon Green and Anthony O’Connor (Angst)

Submissions to the Redd Inc website are open until Halloween, 31 October 2010.
