Z’Tejas Enlists the Help of Austin-Area Fire Fighters to Keep the Heat Under Control at Chile Bash

Sept. 7, 2010 - PRLog -- AUSTIN, Texas – September 7, 2010 -- Z’Tejas, known for its fresh, flavorful and innovative menu, will host its traditional Chile Bash from September 7th to 26th of 2010. This showcase of culinary appreciation for the chile is the highlight of their diverse menu for the month, and is a favorite of many Z’Tejas guests.  

Because of the heat level involved, Z’Tejas has cordially invited three nearby fire departments to compete for a worthy cause on the night of September 14th from 5-8 p.m.  These local heroes will be shadowing servers at the multiple Z’Tejas Austin locations to help raise funds for the LIVESTRONG Survivorship Center at the Dell Children’s Medical Center of Central Texas.  

The LIVESTRONG Survivorship Center supports children cancer survivors by helping families address the complicated needs following treatment.  Children survivors are reinforced with advocates that help them mitigate the physical, emotional and educational needs that are frequently complicated by effects of their treatment.  This program aids in stabilizing the continued recovery of the children into a strong and healthy adulthood.

One reason Z’Tejas decided on this center is due to their unique history with the LIVESTRONG organization.  “The idea of the Lance Armstrong Foundation began at Z’Tejas Sixth Street location in 1996, so it’s only fitting that we support the LIVESTRONG Survivorship Center,” said Nick Rotas, Regional Manager of Z’Tejas.  “Lance and four others met for dinner with the common goal to unite people battling cancer, and now we are proud to provide support for this cause.

“The fire fighters will be taking guests’ orders, filling drinks and having a great time while they raise as much as they can to benefit children stricken by cancer” said Rotas.  “The department that raises the most for these boys and girls will be treated to a catered dinner by Z’Tejas.”  The fire department of Cedar Park will be at the 6th Street location, Round Rock laddermen can be found at the Arboretum, and fire fighters from the department of Leander will participate at the Avery Ranch location.    

Rotas also noted that “the fire fighters want to issue a challenge to the guests to heat up the benefit with plenty of generosity, since this fundraiser supports a worthy cause.  So bring your family and friends to Z’Tejas on September 14 and support the LIVESTRONG Survivorship Center, as well as the brave participants in its programs.”
