Dreamkind Launches Sproutster Game for the iPhone and iPad

Aug. 27, 2010 - PRLog -- Dreamkind Studios today announced that Sproutster, a free iPhone and iPad app, is now available on the App Store. All of the proceeds from the Sproutster game will be donated to the United Nations World Food Program. The more people play Sproutster, the more Dreamkind donates money to help buy rice for malnourished children. “We are trying to do our small part in providing basic needs to kids,” said Jay Schiffman, President of Dreamkind. “We want to help eliminate global hunger. But, at the same, we’ve created a really addictive and educational game that kids, parents and serious gamers will love playing.”

YOU PLAY
In Sproutster, you’re helping a little sprout-dude grow rice for his friends in different countries around the world. You must catch falling letters in your bucket to spell words. When you catch 10 words, you can feed all your friends. You and Sproutster then move on to a new adventure in another country. As you move from country to country, the rain falls faster and the game becomes more challenging. You travel to India, Egypt, Japan, China and many other countries. By the time you’ve reached your 10th country, it is pouring letters, and you must help Sproutster catch the letters you need, while dodging the ones you don’t.

All of the proceeds from Sproutster are donated to the U.N. World Food Program to feed hungrynchildren, eradicate global poverty and build a sustainable planet. “We were inspired by freerice.com and other innovative charitable organizations,” Schiffman said. “In order to raise money for important causes, social entrepreneurs need to find new ways to emotionally connect with donors.” For each plant Sproutster grows, Dreamkind donates around forty grains of rice to the U.N. World Food Program. In just a day, a player can donate thousands of grains of rice, which goes a long way towards relieving world hunger.
