Review of Witstech A81E Android 2.2 (Part)

Aug. 26, 2010 - PRLog -- Witstech A81E arrived me and it is honor to share review . One point should be noted here that the device we have is a model not the one sold in the market, something different in the appearance.

Hardware
About its CPU, we are confused, because there are three different ways saying it. The products from the site says A8 600MHz, the factory said A8 800MHz and the chip supplier said it can be up to 1GHz when the CUP overclocks, it can reach 1GHz. We will track this issue and post a clear answer here later.

Operation System
Three OS Android 2.1/2.2 and WinCE 6.0 can run on this device, which is also the most attractive feature for customers. It is a bit pity that system comes pre-installed with android 2.2, you have to install WinCE6.0 on a micro SD card for the dual boot operation.

UI
Like android 2.1, you can also lock the screen by sliding the lock icon upside. The desk looks simple and clean.We can figure out that the android OS on the device is totally designed for cell phones. Firstly, the bluetooth and the camera designed for cell phones are still displayed, but both of them don't work at all. Besides the google brower, the other browers on the devices all are for mobile phones. It is just like a bigger phone.

Audio
The product page said that it supports three formats including MP3, WAV, WMA. The result we tested is only MP3 format can work and the other two cannot.
The quality of the sound isn't very good, some noise mixed when playing music on it. It is much better listening with earphones.

Pictures view
A new change in Android 2.2 is the way to view pictures. All the pictures show in the effect of 3D. When you click to open up an image, the whole image will show up, but out of focus. About 3 seconds latter, it will recover to normal. Click some part of the picture, this part will zoom out. Also, you can drag left or right to view all the pictures with fingers.

Network connection surfing online
I have to say it is a good MID for people who perfer to surf online with it. It responses very sensitively and quickly when you look through webpages. It connects the Wifi fast as well. We try to watch the online videos at one of Chinese video site, but it fails. Because Youtube is blocked in China, we aren't sure whether it is ok to watch videos at youtube.
