By: UpstageGal Entertainment Nikki Young: San Antonio-Based Stage and Screen Actress WHAT: 48 Hour Film Project Screenings WHEN: Thursday, August 19, 2010 7pm (Group A) 9:30pm (Group B) WHERE: The Cameo Theatre 1123 E. Commerce Street San Antonio, TX 78205 Actress Nikki Young, a veteran of the 48 Hour Film Project, celebrates a rare achievement with her appearance in two 48 Hour films in a single weekend. On Friday, August 13, as San Antonio began its fourth year in the international film competition (in which filmmakers must write, shoot, and submit their completed films within two days), Young recorded dialogue for her starring role in "Sign Trainer", an animated comedy from director Joey Carrillo. Less than 24 hours later (on Saturday, August 14), she filmed a supporting role in "The Drop", a buddy film directed by San Antonio Film Commissioner Drew Mayer-Oakes. Both films will premiere at the Cameo Theatre on Thursday, August 19; "Sign Trainer" will screen in Group A at 7pm, while "The Drop" will premiere in Group B at 9:30pm. For Young, working on two films in two days was a challenge she could not resist. “One of the great things about the 48 Hour Film Project is the chance to test yourself and see what you can accomplish with such limited time and resources,” she says, “so when Joey and Drew invited me to work on their teams, I was thrilled at the opportunity.” Young's previous 48-hour films have met with great success. In 2009, "Nikki 'N Nessa" won the Audience Award in the locally-based San Antonio 48 Hour Film Experience; "Dating Danielle", her first film in the 48 Hour Film Project, won three awards in 2007 and went on to win two awards in the 2008 Seguin Film & Arts Festival. Also in 2008, Young starred in "Four Minutes Till The End", which has won numerous awards and accolades since its premiere, from its five wins at the 48 Hour Film Project (including Best Film) to its screening at the 2009 Cannes Film Festival and its inclusion on the Project‘s “Best Of 2008” DVD, along with films from around the world. COST: $10 per screening. TICKETS: Please call 210.211.5454 or visit www.cameocenter.com.
