Aug. 15, 2010 - PRLog -- He believes that for starters, the Telecommunications industry and Partners can and will benchmark a standard of Content to create its own “Oil,” based on the fact there are so many devices on the planet, all of them requiring content to run.

“With the amount of devices out there, it makes sense for the industry to set itself some sort of standard to ensure there’s value, demand etc.”

He believes a market for trading the data along the lines of a Futures market is not unrealistic. “It’s valuable stuff; it’s up to the industry to ensure it remains that way and to safeguard its barrels of the stuff.”

Suppliers of the “Oil,” categorized by the quality and quantity of their data like Sony, EMI, Warner, and Universal in music, the Big 4 in film, Reuters and company in news, with existing aggregators and apps developers with revenue exceeding a certain amount, will form a top layer. The layer beneath that is open to registered Suppliers.

Telecommunications companies, Mobile phone manufacturers, Mobile Operating System developers, parent companies of the afore-mentioned, and anyone with a vested interest in commoditizing data will form the market.

“Other markets for Data will be created, but we need to present a working model that already has a place for its application.” Metofeaz lets me know that the well is deep and the idea is expansive, so it could form the basis of a sustainable economy for centuries to come.

When I asked the Whimsical one whether the concept is one of his many whims, he replied, “Are we going to let our legacy—Data—waste away in an Archive? Hell NO!”

“Creating innovative, environmentally kind entertainment” is the mission of afamasaga.net, the parent site of etfiction.com, GUIOPERA.com, and now MobileAdApp.com’s Vision & Mission Tag Line. As LMLA-ink’s members get ready to write their third GUIOPERA, featuring stories inspired by EMINEM and MADONNA, it appears they will do their bit to further the idea that could provide us with a new commodity that is not so scarce.
