Derr Designs Cover Art for CD Honoring “Underground Railroad”

Aug. 10, 2010 - PRLog -- Morristown, NJ—Internationally exhibited artist David Derr of D2 Studios has just completed the CD packaging art for the latest work from composer Tim Janis.    “Music of Freedom and Hope” offers twenty-two uplifting songs honoring the National Underground Railroad Museum Freedom Center in Cincinnati, OH.  

Mr. Derr’s cover art work employs photos of the museum’s soaring architecture against a sunset sky to symbolize the spirit of freedom.  Also prominent is an image of a candle, one of many that were lit as signals for escaping slaves.

The Freedom Center is just a few steps from the banks of the Ohio River, the great natural barrier that separated the slave states of the South from the free states of the North.  The museum is named for the secret network of escape routes that led slaves to freedom during the Civil War era.  

With millions of albums sold, five national Public TV specials, and 10 Billboard Charting CDs, composer Tim Janis has worked with some of the top artists in the music and entertainment business -- from Paul McCartney, Billy Joel, and Ray Charles, to George Clooney and James Earl Jones.

Mr. Derr employs a wide cross section of artistic disciplines including traditional and digital painting, mixed media, assemblages and photography.  His works have recently been displayed at the European Council of International Schools in Nice, France; and Art Expo in New York City.  .

Mr. Derr has won numerous awards including: the Adobe Digital Imaging Competition, International. Digital Mural Competition and NY Art Director's Club.  He has been featured in Gallery and Studio Magazine, Photoshop User, and Digital Fine Arts Magazine as well as numerous online exhibitions and websites.
