Aug. 9, 2010 - PRLog -- A video recently posted to YouTube that shows a group of Boy Scouts at the National Scout Jamboree booing Barack Obama's video address has CNN's Jeanne Moos quite confused. Claiming that Our Dear Leader had prior commitments, she simply cannot understand how a group of Boy Scouts would not count themselves blessed to bear witness to Our Dear Leader's video presence. She claims that the booing violates the principles of the Scout Law, namely that a Scout should be "courteous" and "kind."

In my own effort to be helpful, I will kindly help shed some light on the situation. Supposedly, Our Dear Leader was too "busy" to make it to the Jamboree. However, he was not too busy to hold a fundraiser and make an appearance on The View. Given the choice between honoring an institution that has been a fundamental part of national culture for the last hundred years and a chance to make some money and appear on a gossipy day-time TV show, Obama chose the latter. In his address to the Scouts, Obama talked about the value of service and selflessness. His own actions proved he is a hypocrite. While he lectured the Scouts about serving their communities and whatnot, Obama himself was on a self-promotion tour. This is clearly an example of do as I say, not as I do.

But also consider the office of the Presidency. While making an appearance at the Jamboree would have clearly been in line with the distinction and honor surrounding the office of the Presidency, making an appearance on The View did nothing but denigrate the office. No other president has made an appearance on a day-time talk show. Perhaps there's a reason for that. Maybe it has something to do with the fact that shows such as The View are not generally well-regarded by the public. But it was a political opportunity, and our Community-Organizer-in-Chief certainly couldn't miss out on an opportunity to organize some cash. Regardless, his appearance on the show was not in keeping with the dignity normally accorded to the Presidency.

So, maybe being passed over for some cheap talk show made a few of the Scouts a little upset. Maybe viewing the President as nothing but a hypocritical blow hard was a factor. Maybe those Scouts recognized the value and depth of their own institution and saw the shallowness and hollowness that is our President.
