The Solution for Helping Struggling Readers Across the Nation

Reading Horizons Discover Intensive Phonics reading program helps beginning & struggling readers build effective literacy skills for everyday life.

Aug. 9, 2010 - PRLog -- Reading Horizons Discover Intensive Phonics reading program was recently used in Channing Hall School in Draper, Utah, with positive results. The program is used to help beginning and struggling readers across the nation learn the fundamentals of reading that help them build effective literacy skills to use in everyday life.

One of the teachers, Jessie Harwood, expressed her experience with Discover Intensive Phonics in her classroom by saying: “I am enjoying watching my students doing so much better in both reading and spelling. My one student is a sixth grade student who at the beginning of last year was basically a non-reader stumbling on three letter words. He literally was reading on a first grade level at the beginning of the year. He is currently reading on a fourth grade level. He has taken Intensive Phonics all this year. While he had trouble learning to read conventionally he has done so well with this program. He is now reading an average of 95 words per minute and can break apart any word I throw at him. He also struggled with spelling but is now taking both regular and non-sense words and using the spelling rules from the program and spelling them with remarkable accuracy. It is fun to watch him sit and misspell a word and go back on his own and utilize the rules and figure out the correct spellings.”

The program works well for beginning readers, students with learning disabilities, English language learners, and special education students.
