Timothy J. Plunkett Appointed to Merit Selection Panel

Aug. 5, 2010 - PRLog -- NEW YORK (August 5, 2010) — Timothy J. Plunkett, an attorney in the New York office of McKenna Long & Aldridge LLP (MLA), has been appointed to a Merit Selection Panel of the United States District Court for the Southern District of New York.

Members of the Merit Selection Panel are responsible for making recommendations on whether Magistrate judges should serve an additional term. The process includes reviewing and considering all comments by members of the bar and the public, interviewing the candidates, interviewing selected individuals who may have actual and reliable knowledge of the incumbent's performance and ultimately reporting the recommendations to the Magistrate Judges Committee.

Mr. Plunkett is a member of MLA’s Litigation practice and Public Policy and Regulatory Affairs practice.  He represents clients in broad range of commercial and other business disputes and much of his work has involved matters at the intersection between private and public activity.  Specifically, Mr. Plunkett represents client in the areas of media, telecommunications, finance, alternative and renewable energy, real estate and technology.  Prior to joining MLA, Mr. Plunkett worked as a Senior Policy Advisor to the New York State Assembly Minority Leader’s Office on matters relating to the events of September 11, 2001.
