Hot Summer...Green Grass!

How to Keep Your Grass Green Even During the Hottest of Summers

July 28, 2010 - PRLog -- Keep your grass about 1 to 3 inches in length. Longer grass provides shade for the roots and keeps the soil moist. It also helps the roots to grow deeper into the ground.

Water your grass thoroughly in 5-minute intervals a couple of times a day during the summer. The shorter cycles allows the soil to absorb the water, preventing excess run-off. Water sloped lawns more frequently.

Water your lawn in the early morning or late evening. This prevents the water from evaporating in the hot afternoon sun before the lawn can fully absorb it.
Position your sprinklers so that it waters all of the grassy areas; set your sprinklers to dispense large droplets. The lawn will receive more water at a time, preventing excess evaporation.

Fertilize your lawn at least once a month. Ask about our professional fertilizing services.
Apply grass seed to any dry spots. Use a garden rake and loosen the soil. Apply grass seed underneath and on top of the soil, and then water thoroughly.
Remove any small swimming pools or play equipment from the grass every night so the area underneath does not die and turn brown
