Pepperdine MBA Student Matthew Brewer Named August Graduation Valedictorian

CalTech controller Matthew Brewer of Altadena, California, will deliver the first Pepperdine MBA valedictorian address at summer commencement ceremonies for the Graziadio School of Business and Management on Saturday, August 7, 2010.
 
July 26, 2010 - PRLog -- Graduating Pepperdine University business student Matthew Brewer of Altadena, California, will deliver the inaugural valedictorian address at summer commencement ceremonies for the Graziadio School of Business and Management on Saturday, August 7, 2010. Selected by Dean Linda A. Livingstone and her senior leadership from among 18 nominated candidates, Brewer receives his master’s degree from the Fully Employed MBA Program having earned an academic record that qualifies him for the Beta Gamma Sigma Honor Society (3.7 GPA and above) and having represented the school’s mission and values both inside and outside of the classroom in exemplar fashion.

Brewer is Controller at California Institute of Technology (“Caltech”) in Pasadena, where he oversees Caltech’s financial accounting and reporting, its tax function, and its student accounts area. He joined Caltech in 2002 after five years at the accounting firm PricewaterhouseCoopers LLP, where he served as a Manager in the firm’s Southern California higher education practice.  Brewer began the part-time program at Pepperdine University’s Graziadio School of Business and Management in 2007.  He holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Government, Cum Laude, from Pomona College and has earned a California Certified Public Accountant license.

Pepperdine’s Graziadio School hosts commencement ceremonies three times per year. The August graduation takes place at Firestone Fieldhouse on the Malibu campus, beginning at 10:30 a.m. Brewer will be joined on-stage by Gaiam president and chief executive officer Lynn Power, MBA 1991, who receives the Distinguished Alumnae Award.
