Follow on Google News | Paintings Spring to Life in Unique Art ExhibitFormer Disney artist Angela Edmonds is featured in an art exhibit with paintings and animation at the Red Bluff Art Gallery.
“I love to use animals as my subject manner because they can tell you a bit of a story through their body language. I use my skills as a cinematographer to make my paintings bold and dynamic. I paint with strong composition, solid shapes, intense values, and vivid colors to capture a viewer’s eye,” says Angela, and adds, “I want my oils to come to life. This exhibit will show paintings with different animals running, walking, fighting or communicating with one another through action. “The Running Horse” animation, which will be showing at the Opening Night Reception on August 6th, from 5-8 pm, is based on a series of paintings. The artist credits watching her husband, Russ, animating on a hand-drawn animated feature film for Disney. “Watching him, I came up with the idea of bringing a painting to life, one painting after another. I created a series of oil painting on canvas making a sequential action and projecting their photographs onto a screen at a constant rate, producing movement and the illusion of life,” Angela explains. “These paintings are not rotoscoped, but hand drawn and painted. (Rotoscope is when one traces a live-action reference for animation.) I took advantage of having an animator to make sure the action is right. These paintings are not a copy of film, but from my imagination and skill. You will see the basic principles of animation in the series of painting, The Running Horse,” Angela says. Angela started her art career as a layout artist designing backgrounds for Walt Disney Feature Animations. Now a Red Bluff resident, Angela and her husband, own Edmonds Studios Animation, an animation production studio. Angela is represented by the Red Bluff Art Gallery, 601 Walnut Street and is a member of the artist-owned and run cooperative. An artists’ reception for her new exhibit will be held at the gallery on Friday, August 6th, from 5-8 pm. Music will be provided by Jennifer O’Conner, a unique singer-songwriter. Dress is casual and everyone is welcome. More information at www.RedBluffArtGallery.com # # # A true International Art Gallery, located in the heart of Northern California.
