July 19, 2010 - PRLog -- EASTWEST Public Relations continues the tradition of passing on knowledge through the intern program with The University of North Carolina-Chapel Hill. Miranda Garrison is the fourth intern to work with EASTWEST from the UNC Carolina Entrepreneurial Initiative (CEI) program. The 2010 CEI program consists of 13 UNC students who will be placed into 13 different entrepreneurial businesses in Beijing as part of a summer internship program.

Garrison, a public relations major and rising senior at UNC, joined the EASTWEST team at the beginning of July. She is originally from North Carolina and will be spending the summer learning about entrepreneurship and public relations at EASTWEST under the direction of EASTWEST Managing Director, Jim James.

Jim James, a graduate of UNC himself, has a strong relationship with UNC and looks forward to assisting the university in finding placements for the interns each year in Beijing. “UNC is the oldest state university in the U.S. and EASTWEST PR is one of the longest established independent PR firms in Asia, founded in 1995. Each year I am delighted to welcome a Tarheel to our offices – they always add value to EASTWEST and I believe that they take away valuable experience both of agency life and life in Beijing.”

“Five years ago, when we began our initiative to send entrepreneurship students to Beijing, we thought there was no better learning experience for a budding entrepreneur than an eight week internship with a company in China,” said Buck Goldstein, a UNC teacher in the entrepreneurship minor. “Our students consistently validate our belief.  Year after year participants in the Beijing program return with descriptions of life changing experiences that make them not only better entrepreneurs but better citizens of the world.”

Last summer, EASTWEST hosted UNC intern Wyatt Bruton. Bruton recently returned to Beijing to visit the EASTWEST office and pass on words of wisdom to this year’s participants. He is a rising senior public relations major.

The CEI program has been sending young entrepreneurs to Beijing to learn first-hand about business in China for five years now.
