July 15, 2010 - PRLog -- The number of steel balls that added into the ball mill depends on the diameter of ball mill, the hardness of ore, the size of ore, the hardness of steel ball and rotate speed of ball mill. The following is how to decide the number, which is concluded by the professional ball mill manufacturer zenith.

Commonly, the new ball mill needs a period of adjustment. And in this period, the steel balls should account for 80% of the largest capacity and the steel balls should be added order by the ball size (ф120mm, ф100mm, ф80mm, ф60mm, ф40mm).
Every model of ball mill’s capacity is different from others. Why should only account for 80% of the largest capacity? Because the ball mill’s big gear and small gear need to joggle and the capacity of grinding ore is gradually increasing for the new ball mill.
After the period of adjustment, the operator should check the joggle condition of big gear and small gear. If the condition is normal, the free capacity (20% of the capacity) can be filled out. After the normally running of ball mill, the smallest steel balls should not be added to the ball mill. Because the reasonable friction of steel balls, steel balls and ore, steel ball and ball mill’s scale board can make the steel ball smaller and smaller.
