Blueberries - So many things to do with them!

July 12, 2010 - PRLog -- Did you know that blueberries are so flavorful and yummy and offer a wide variety of things to do with them such as soups, bread, jams, muffins and fruits. There are so many different varieties of blueberries too; there are ones with thorns and ones without.
If your family likes to eat blueberries then a great family activity is to purchase some blueberry bushes at your local garden center or online at TN Nursery and plant them. The first thing you want to do is prep your ground, this is a main starting point to having successful blueberry bushes and ones that will produce plentiful berries for many years to come.
Prep your ground by freeing it of all roots, stumps and weeds. Dig your hole which should be about 2-3 inches deeper than its roots and approximately 2-3 inches wider than the base. Take your blueberry bush out of its container and spread the roots so that they can thrive well and not get root bound. Place your blueberry bush in the hole and then water it really well before covering it up, after the roots are saturated you can cover the plant back up and add mulch or pine needles around it and water it again.
Now comes the best part, just sit back and watch your blueberries grow! Blueberries tend to not bloom the first year, but if taken care of during the winter months and watched carefully for bugs and insects you can keep your blueberry bush thriving fruits for many years to come! Not only is it fun for the whole family but also provides a rewarding treat.
