Aug. 14, 2010 - PRLog -- We have all drove down the road and saw driveways or wooded areas all lined up with what we think is bamboo or resembles bamboo, but then we second guess ourselves because we are unsure where bamboo grows. Most of us have only heard of bamboo in Japan or China, never just randomly anywhere.
Although bamboo is native to Japan and China, it can be grown in many other places all over the world or a different species of it called River Cane.
Arundinaria Gigantea "river Cane" Canebrake is one of the two species of bamboo that are native to the United States. It is a wetland bamboo that grows in swampy wet areas. Each one is around an inch in diameter, and has short branches that only reach a foot long. They grow in all different types of soils and weather climates. They can withstand very extreme temperatures, anything from -10 to 105 degrees farenheit.
River Cane is a great plant to grow in those hard to grow areas or an area where you just need a touch of something, but be careful the river cane can spread very rapidly so don’t overwhelm yourself with too much at one time or pretty soon your yard will be full of river cane.
