Initsys Merlin 3 integrates with telecare applications

July 8, 2010 - PRLog -- Merlin 3, the leading control room software solution used in alarm receiving centres (ARC), is now compatible with the Everon range of wireless monitoring and alarm systems used in telecare applications including nurse call, dementia care, bed alarms and fire safety.  It complements existing monitoring arrangements, providing essential backup within central alarm receiving centres if care staff are not available or have not responded within a predetermined period to alarm activations.  This integration will enable a higher standard of care to be delivered in a wide range of care environments and play an important role in protecting sick and vulnerable people.

Everon wireless telecare alarms use GPRS hubs for wire free installation in nursing homes and other care facilities.  An alarm management system directs alarms to a carer's mobile along with detailed alarm information to ensure the most appropriate response is delivered.  If the carer does not answer the alarm call from the server, it is redirected seamlessly either to another carer or to the ARC.  The Everon range includes purpose built systems to aid safer walking for those with Alzheimer or other cognitive disorders.  They allow wearers to walk freely in predetermined safe zones but raise automatic alarms should wearers stray outside these zones.

In addition, individuals in distress outside the home can also press an emergency button to call for help. This will put them in contact with the ARC with a two-way speech capability that allows them to speak with someone until help arrives.

Merlin 3 responds instantly utilising Google maps to pinpoint the precise location of alarm activations.  When used in conjunction with CCTV networks, Merlin 3 automatically connects to the nearest camera without requiring intervention from ARC staff and automatically operates the pan, tilt and zoom functions and displays live images with audible alerts on a predetermined video wall screen.  All pre and post alarm images stored on the appropriate DVR are also automatically located and replayed enabling immediate and effective action to be taken to resolve every event.  Merlin 3 also provides web-based access to authorised users to view alarm events and video footage to further enhance the way that situations are handled.
