CEO Techies Learn Talking Tips from Leading Communications Trainer

Carmie McCook Shares Public Speaking Tips 30 Top Technology CEOs In DC Area

July 2, 2010 - PRLog -- Carmie McCook, President of Carmie McCook & Associates and a nationally recognized public speaking coach, was a key presenter on a three-person panel on June 24th for Mindshare, an invitation only professional development program for CEOs in the technology industry in the Metro Washington, DC area. Her presentation, “The Five Characteristics of a Great Speaker,” gave the 30 CEOs in attendance professional tips and techniques for becoming more compelling and credible presenters, whether speaking with Board members, customers, staff, or investors.

“Technology professionals often tell me they just aren’t not ‘wired’ to be engaging public speakers. They say their expertise is making high-tech software and gadgets, not making speeches,” says McCook. “To them I simply smile and say, ‘I have two words for you: Steve Jobs.”

“Great speakers are not born. They are taught,” added McCook. For more than 20 years she has coached hundreds of high-profile business executives, government officials, medical professionals, sports figures and others how to be more engaging and effective when making speeches and B2B presentations.

Mindshare Board Advisor Mark Esposito, Director of Entrepreneurial & Venture Capital Advisory Services with PricewaterhouseCoopers, said, “Carmie is always a hit with our  CEOs and everyone enjoys her lively presentations. She has spoken to our group for the past three years and is always informative and entertaining. We look forward to having her back next year.”
