DICE AltiGen with Quantum-CORE vs. TAPI Solutions

This article provides information and insight into what the DICE solution can offer versus legacy TAPI solutions that are a staple of the current telephony landscape.

June 28, 2010 - PRLog -- With the release of the DICE AltiGen and Quantum-CORE, there has been a lot of speculation in the industry about what the future holds. DICE is on the cutting edge, with new technologies and products released at a rapid pace.

Many PBX solutions only support the TAPI protocol, which is a legacy protocol originally developed in 1993. The TAPI protocol is a universal protocol that every PBX supports. Unfortunately, the protocol is severely limited in its capabilities. Because TAPI solutions do not support any SDK programming for a TRUE integration, DICE found that TAPI was not a viable long-term solution for our clients, and went to a phone system that could support the heavy SDK customization needed to properly run a central station.

DICE has a number of central stations running our integrated product, with more centrals coming online in the near future. DICE itself has been using the AltiGen solution for over seven years now without any issues or hardware failures. During hurricane Katrina, we had a central station in New Orleans move farther inland as their central station was being literally destroyed by the high winds and water. They also went to the Quantum-CORE/AltiGen solution at their new site. The system is so easy to setup and administer that we actually setup the entire system here at DICE Corp. headquarters, and shipped it down to their new central station. They plugged it in and started monitoring again without anyone from DICE needing to go on-site.

The integration between AltiGen and Quantum-CORE makes all of this possible with ease and efficiency, while these features and benefits are not possible with a TAPI option.  This is a testament to the ease of use and flexibility of the Quantum-CORE system. As of today, almost 4 years later, their system is still running flawlessly, and is running completely stable without any issues.

Our Quantum-CORE/AltiGen solution delves further into the level of integration with the DICE software than any TAPI solution can provide. With the latest integration features of Quantum-CORE, if an operator picks up the phone, the DICE screen at that terminal tells them that they are off-hook and busies out their extension so they do not receive any incoming calls while handling an alarm. This allows them to easily autodial and transfer two-way calls to the operator without the worry that another call will arrive at their extension while they are on the alarm, and vice versa, if the operator is handling a call no alarms will go to that specific operator. DICE also ties call recording to events in history, and central station employees are able to play back the recording right from DICE history.

At DICE, we like to look toward the future of the alarm and monitoring industry, and our new products are designed to make the operation of your central station more cost effective, efficient, and provide higher customer satisfaction levels. We simply did not feel that looking back at legacy products was a good way to take  DICE  and  our  clients  into  the  next  generation  of  this  business.
