Bharti plans a $100 million investment in Malawi for the next three years

June 25, 2010 - PRLog -- India’s Bharti Airtel Group plans to invest up to $100 million for network expansion in Malawi for the next three years after having acquired Zain Africa operations.

In a news conference, Manoj Kohli the CEO of Bharti Africa said: “We plan to invest US$ 100 million in Malawi in the next three years to improve coverage and reach out to Malawi’s rural farmers … and help the country’s economy grow”

Currently, Bharti’s subsidiary leads the country’s mobile market with 2.5 million subscribers and according to Kholi, the company expects to bring this number up to 7 million in the next years.
