June 25, 2010 - PRLog -- Bill Morris has been named vice president development for CDS International Holdings, Inc. , responsible for the Atlantic Plaza II redevelopment in downtown Delray Beach.  According to Bill Milmoe, CDS president, Morris will oversee the $325 million project to transform two city blocks into one of the nation‘s finest suburban mixed-use downtown destinations.

Morris has planned and developed more than 15 million square feet of office and retail space and 3,000 residential units, with a focus on urban upscale residential and mixed-use projects.  Most recently, he completed the 217-unit Worthing Place resort-style luxury apartment homes in downtown Delray Beach.  Other projects include Palmetto Place and Palmetto Park in downtown Boca Raton and 135o Main in Sarasota.  Prior to establishing his own company, Southcoast Partners, based in Delray Beach, Morris was Divisional President of Arvida/JMB Partners.

Atlantic Plaza II will bring together a 132,000-square-foot specialty retailing center, the downtown’s first Class A office space of 106,000 square feet, and 197 upscale residences. The 8.5-acre site is at the City’s “Main & Main” corner, Atlantic Avenue and Federal Highway, and adjacent to the City’s Veteran’s Park along the Intracoastal Waterway.

Morris will be responsible for working with best-in-class joint venture partners to develop various components and to bring specialty retail in line with Delray Beach’s character to the site, according to Milmoe. Infrastructure work is underway for completion over the next 12 months. Atlantic Plaza II development is to be phased over the next five to seven years.

CDS International Holdings is a private equity firm with diverse business interests, including commercial office buildings, shopping centers, real estate development and liquid nutritionals. In addition to Milmoe, principals include Carl DeSantis, who was the founder and chairman of Rexall Sundown Vitamins, which was sold in 2000 to Royal Numico for $1.8 billion. He is also well known for creating Kwandwe Private Game Reserve in the Eastern Cape of South Africa, a unique Relais & Châteaux eco-resort.
