1,000,000 to boycott MLB Hall of Fame

June 25, 2010 - PRLog -- Pete Rose is the greatest hitter in Major League Baseball (MLB) history, yet he still hasn't been inducted into the MLB Hall of Fame. Rose is still close to the hearts of many and a Facebook page has been established to give the hitter the recognition he deserves.

The Facebook signature drive has become an annual event for the owner of the Facebook page. Last year's event had several thousand participants, but fell short of the 1,000,000 supporters it sought. The page currently has 45,000 like-minded individuals who want to see Rose receive his due.

Rose earned three World Series rings, a Most Valuable Player Award, two Gold Gloves and the Rookie of the Year Award, among others.  In Aug. 1989, Rose was accused of betting on baseball games. He had retired from baseball by then, but agreed to permanent ineligibility from baseball. After Rose's ban was officially instated, the Baseball Hall of Fame members voted to change the rules to ban those on permanent ineligibility from ever being inducted into the Hall of Fame. Rose applied for reinstatement in 1997, but MLB commissioners have ignored requests and rejected petitions.

Rose's Facebook fans feel that he's paid the price for his wrongdoing and want him reinstated. They believe MLB officials continue to keep Rose from claiming his spot in history due to personal vendettas. They're angry that Hall of Fame commissioners refuse to listen to fans, who ultimately make the game the great sporting event that it is.

Howard, the owner of the Facebook page said, "Pete Rose, the greatest hitter in Major League Baseball history, has paid the price for his mistakes. After 20 years, it's time to induct Pete Rose into the MLB Hall of Fame. One million members to our group will get Pete Rose the honor he deserves. Invite your friends to join us!"
