June 25, 2010 - PRLog -- TAMPA, Fla. -- Delivering on its goal of expanding its market presence on Florida’s West Coast, Minto Communities announces the pending acquisition of the last remaining buildable land in the Kings Point and Renaissance neighborhoods of Sun City Center.

The agreement with WCI Communities, LLC, the current developer of Sun City Center, includes land to accommodate up to 1,000 homes; of which 200 lots are already fully developed. Terms of the sale will not be disclosed.

The transaction is the second major land acquisition by Minto within the past eight months. The company previously purchased the Perico Island property in Bradenton, Fla. from the St. Joe Company in October 2009.

“With easy access to the Gulf, the arts district in Tampa, top golf courses and unsurpassed amenities within its own neighborhoods, Sun City Center is one of the premier active adult communities in America,” states Michael Belmont, executive vice president, Minto Communities.

“The chance to build homes in Sun City Center and complete the master planned community is a great opportunity for Minto and we are proud to become part of its rich history.”

Belmont states that the deal coupled with the company’s previous acquisitions further exemplifies Minto’s desire to be a leading home builder on Florida’s West Coast. “We will continue grow our presence throughout the area by adding key properties that allow us to fill a housing need with the right type of quality homes that Minto can uniquely build.”

Within the Kings Point and Renaissance neighborhoods, Minto plans to build detached single family homes and paired villas or two unit single family attached homes. Model home construction should begin in August with sales starting later this year.

“Our Sun City Center homes will be competitively priced within the market, include many upgraded standard features and offer great value such as higher energy efficiency levels through our higher construction standards and appliance selection,” states Belmont.

Pricing is expected to range from the mid $100,000’s to $250,000+.

Minto Communities is currently building in Fish Hawk Ranch, Grand Hampton and Country Club East in Lakewood Ranch.
