New boating adventures unfold with Nautiraid.

French folding boat maker Nautiraid is now available in Australia through Performance Canoes and Kayaks.

June 22, 2010 - PRLog -- Australian specialist boating equipment distributors, Performance Canoes and Kayaks, is pleased to announce that Nautiraid folding boats have joined its Australian product range.

Proven by specialist military forces and intrepid adventurers the world over, the Nautiraid folding boat concept delivers immense portability, practicality and convenience for adventure-seekers.

Nautiraid has been handcrafting expedition-grade folding kayaks, canoes and dinghies since 1936.

An unmatched combination of high quality traditional and 21st century materials, exceptional attention to detail and ingenious design means Nautiraid is trusted by some of the world’s most extreme explorers. Robust military grade frames and high wear and tear-resistant fabrics such as Hypalon, mean the boats are ultra-strong.

Now this technology and experience is available to Australian customers, as perfect for an afternoon on Sydney Harbour, as a weekend in the Whitsundays, or long service leave adventuring on the Amazon.

Key Nautiraid advantages are:

Transportability: Single Kayaks can be carried in a backpack, and even doubles fold to the size of a golf bag. Both are easy enough to be stowed in the boot of a small car, or carried on public transport. No need to heft a boat onto your car’s roof, risking damage to the panels. No salt-water drips on the duco. No risk of the boat falling off the roof on the freeway, and no 20 percent fuel consumption penalty from a roof rack-mounted load.

Storage: Nautiraid folding boats are simple to store in a garage or even in a studio apartment. Ever tried taking a regular kayak in an elevator up to your apartment? Then what do you do with it? No risk of theft from the car roof while the vehicle is parked.

Convenience: 10-minutes to unfold. Paddle your kayak out to your moored sailboat, fold it up and stow below. No need to tow a tender or eat up deck space. No need to leave it on the shoreline for next time either, risking theft.

“A Nautiraid boat is a wonderful piece of practical design and craftsmanship and we are very excited to be able to offer the range in Australia,” says Justin Hocevar of Performance Canoes and Kayaks.

“Each is beautifully built and the finishing is superb. The concept of a folding boat just makes so much sense with its robust and practical high-performance design. A Nautiraid boat gives everyone from novices to experienced adventurers the chance to enjoy all the benefits of this ingenious concept.

“Nautiraid boats are as attractive to extreme adventurers as to folks who need a reliable and easy way to access their weekend sailboat on the harbour.

“I am confident the concept of the folding boat will quickly make a positive impact on all Australians who enjoy water-based recreational activities,” he says.

Nautiraid NRX 190, NRX 250 and NRX 300
Nautiraid folding boats are ideal for fishing, hunting, day trips or use as a tender, and form a really practical, safe and easy-to-transport option.
Nautiraid boats/tenders are distinguished by their simple assembly and dismantling (2 minutes), with no need for tools.
They are also very easy to maintain. Just rinse with fresh water.
The boats are made from abrasion and tear-resistant material.
They are light weight and easy to handle and transport.
These boats are made from ash and birch plywood, combined with a textile sheath
in Hypalon-coated polyester fabric.
The NRX 190, NRX 250 and NRX 300 models open and fold like a fan, from a joint fixed to the front of the bow.
The hull has a keel for directional stability, therefore it’s easy to maintain a straight course.
On the outside, two closed-cell foam floats attach to the sides of the boat with self-fixing tapes. They act as fenders, while ensuring that the boat is completely unsinkable and perfectly stable.
Two varnished wood oars and a stowage bag for the accessories are delivered as standard.
