Poets & Music in the Bookshop: Clare Potter and the Dave Jones TrioThe Dylan Thomas Centre hosts a special Poets and Music in the Bookshop event with Clare Potter and the Dave Jones Trio on Thursday, 24 June at 7.30pm.
By: City and County of Swansea Swansea pianist Dave Jones launches his new CD, which includes settings of poems by Blackwood poet Clare Potter. The acclaimed Dave Jones Trio will also include guests Lee Goodall (saxes), Gareth Roberts (trombone) and Tomos Williams (trumpet). Clare Potter is a performance poet brought up in Blackwood, South Wales. She graduated from the University of Southern Mississippi with an MA in Afro–Caribbean literature, and then moved to New Orleans, where she was a consultant for the New Orleans Writing Project. On returning to Wales after ten years, Clare won the 2004 John Tripp Award for Spoken Poetry and her collection spilling histories was published (Cinnamon, 2006). In the last few years, Clare has been involved in collaborative projects with other writers, musicians, and artists. The evening will also include an open mic slot. All tickets are £5, but £2 can be redeemed against the sale of the CD on the night.
