June 18, 2010 - PRLog -- Every year cherry lovers across the nation celebrate what is known as National Cherry Month in February. While National Cherry Month is not an official holiday, it has been practiced for many years, even decades. Coincidentally National Cherry Month happens to fall in February the same month as Valentine’s Day.

Cherries are found during the summer months, but they can still be enjoyed in February. Cherries can be enjoyed fresh, frozen, or even canned. Cherries have many health benefits, so enjoy as many as you want. Along with being able to lower your cholesterol, cherries can help reduce any inflammation you may be experiencing. Cherries can make a great gift to the health consciences loved one on Valentines Day.

National Cherry Month can also be celebrated because of the other health benefits that cherries boast. Cherries can help aid with disease prevention; they are great source of calcium, iron, magnesium, and copper. Cherries are definitely a much healthy alternative to Valentine chocolates. So on Valentines Day instead of giving chocolates to your sweetheart, lavish her with a big bunch of cherries, they will help boost her mood, be a very tasty treat, and also be extremely healthy for her.

So it seems that National Cherry Month and Valentine’s Day go hand in hand in February. Cherries seem to tempt us with their bright red skins, and yummy juicy insides, but it does seem not fair to hold National Cherry Month in February when fresh cherries are not available. But I suppose because they are red in color, and have a heart shape, that this is why it is celebrated in February, so they can go perfectly with Valentine’s Day. Even though cherries are so healthy for you, you can make them a little unhealthier by combining them with chocolate, they just go fantastic together. So you have National Cherry Month in February, enjoy it, and celebrate it by going out and eating some cherries.
