Updated Geogad Tours Location-Based Android Application Guides Travelers For Free

June 15, 2010 - PRLog -- Travelers have a new set of tools to explore the world using their Android-powered smartphones with Geogad's update to its Android application, Geogad Tours. The newest version of the Geogad Tours app takes advantage of the ever increasing mobile screen size and the ever increasing wireless speeds to allow travelers to choose the quality of the video files that they stream to their phones and to make it even quicker and easier for travelers to upload their own video-based tour stops to the Geogad platform to share to other travelers.

With Geogad Tours, travelers can either enter a location or have the phone automatically find their location. Travelers then can search for tour stops, professionally-created tours, or user-generated custom tours at or near their location. A tour stop consists of a  single video file or an audio- and image-based slideshow created from a series of MP3 sound and JPEG image files. These multimedia clips are associated with a particular latitude and longitude so they can be searched for by location. They are also associated with tags so that they can be found for by more traditional search tools. Tour stops are grouped into tours, created by both professionals and by other travelers.

All tour stops and tour content are available for free from Geogad. Travelers who have not signed into their account are able to view and download all tour stops and samples of tours. Signed-in travelers can view and download the full tours with ads for free. Travelers that would prefer to avoid ads can also buy the professionally created tours for $9.99. The upgraded Geogad Tours app for Android now allows travelers to purchase the tours within the application. Purchased tours are available across all channels of the Geogad platform, whether on the web, the mobile web, or downloaded.
