June 14, 2010 - PRLog -- The ARC Summer Intensives are four days of trainings around issues of adoption, foster care, kinship, guardianship and other complex blended families. Center For Family Connections (CFFC) and Adoption Resource Center (in concert with Evan B. Donaldson Institute), will be holding this year’s conference at the Provincetown Inn, in Provincetown Cape Cod from July 11th -14th. The Intensives are based on Dr. Joyce Maguire Pavao’s- Normative Crises framework, over thirty years of clinical experience, and consulting and training expertise. The training utilizes family systems theory, expressive therapies, trauma and developmental theory, which are the basis of the models of Dr. Pavao, who is Founder and CEO of CFFC.
Marking the 25th anniversary for the ARC Summer Intensives, this year’s theme is “Activism in Adoption.” ARC is a wonderful training opportunity for professionals, parents (birth, adoptive, foster) adult adopted people and extended family.   The Intensives include Keynotes, Discussion Panels, Films, Presentations and small group work and an array of nationally and internationally known leaders in the field of adoption and child welfare. Denise Doherty Pappas, a previous ARC Attendee and adoptive mother, described the conference as an “infinitely well-regarded entity, an adoption conference that is held each year in Provincetown that masters the art of integrating past and present in a profoundly moving way.”
ARC was founded in 1978 and combined with CFFC,which was founded in 1995 to serve families and children whose lives are touched by adoption, foster care, divorce and other complex family issues. CFFC is a nonprofit, educational, and clinical resource center known for its pioneering work in the adoption and complex blended families field. For further information or to request these services, contact CFFC at (617) 547-0909 or visit our website at www.kinnect.org.
