June 14, 2010 - PRLog -- Dataxis Intelligence, the French leading communications market research firm has released latest data of the mobile market evolution in France. It comes out for the first time during the last three years; the mobile subscriptions went down sequentially by 0.3% in the quarter to March 2010.

In fact as highlighted by the figure below, the mobile subscriptions in France rose from 50 million in first quarter 2007 to a record level of more than 57 million at the end of 2009 before tumbling at 56.9 million at the end of March 2010. In relative terms this represents a 13.5% increase in three years or an average quarterly uptake of 1.2%, which is quite appreciable in a market where the penetration rate reached over 90% of the population.

The 162,000 subscribers loss registered in the first quarter of 2010 came from the decrease in the two biggest market players customer base France Telecom and SFR by respectively 0.7% and 0.2%, whereas Bouygues Telecom managed to grow its base by 0.4% in the same period.
