PRLog -- Alexander McQueen, called Lee was born on 17 March 1969 in Lewisham, London and he died on 11 February 2010. His father was Scottish cab driver Ronald and his mother a social science teacher Joyce, McQueen. He was the youngest of six children and he grew up in council house in East London. As a boy he started making dresses for his three sisters and he was destined to become a fashion designer at young age. 1985 he attended Rokeby School and left with 16 in 1985 with one O-level in art, he was working in apprenticeship and learning his craft as a tailor with Savile Row tailors Anderson & Sheppard, before joining Gieves & Hawkes and, later, theatrical costumiers Angels and Bermans. The skills he learned as an apprentice on Savile Row helped earn him a reputation in the fashion world as an expert in creating an impeccably tailored look. He won the British Designer of the Year Award in 1996, 1997, 2001 and 2003. Later McQueen worked as the head designer at Givenchy for five years before founding the Alexander McQueen and McQ labels. McQueen’s dramatic designs, worn by celebrities including Björk, Lady Gaga and Rihanna, met with critical acclaim and earned him the British Designer of the Year award four times. His designs were inspirational and so creative. He made a great impact on fashion and is definitely an unforgettable fashion legend. What a terrible loss for the fashion world.
