Barix Focuses on Integrators and Programmers at InfoComm

New Exstreamer and Barionet devices, SIP application firmware lead diverse array of hardware and software introductions

June 3, 2010 - PRLog -- Barix AG, a pioneer in IP-based audio, intercom, control, and monitoring, comes to InfoComm 2010 (June 9-11, Las Vegas Convention Center, Booth C7724) with a variety of new hardware devices and software tools for systems integrators and programmers in the general AV and security markets.

“Systems integrators and programmers have long been using Barix IP audio and control products for projects requiring the transport of voice, audio and data from one to many points in a single venue or across a large space or campus,” said Johannes G. Rietschel, CEO and Founder of Barix AG.  “InfoComm is an ideal time to showcase our latest innovations for the integration audience as well as for end users who prefer to program and build out their own systems for use in entertainment venues, educational facilities, churches and corporate buildings among other settings.”

New IP Hardware Devices
Barix comes to InfoComm with new additions to its Exstreamer IP decoding and Barionet IP control and automation product lines.  The Exstreamer 120 IP audio decoder will receive its public debut, serving as the end decode/receive link for high-quality audio streaming and control over point-to-point or multipoint IP networks.   The Exstreamer 120 can also act as a versatile solid-state player for various applications, using the new Barix “Digital Message Repeater” application.  The new device carries over features from the popular Exstreamer 110 (LCD display, relay closure, channel selection) and adds a MicroSD card slot for added content protection when playing audio direct from the device.

The Barionet 50, a low-cost automation controller, monitoring device and visualization system, will receive its U.S. debut.  The modular Barionet 50 can operate standalone or in concert with other devices, web server and control systems for professional applications including access control, machine data collection and environmental monitoring.  Barionet 50 devices offer four logical inputs and four relays for interfacing to contact closures and use very low power, making them ideal for green applications such as energy metering, smart grid control and intelligent building management.

SIP Application Firmware
On the software side, Barix will unveil its SIP application toolkit, a new firmware application that can be installed on all market-proven, low-cost Barix IP devices to enable them for SIP applications.  The SIP toolkit supports direct (peer-to-peer) SIP calls and registration with IP PBX systems.  The SIP application firmware can support multiple applications, depending on which hardware it is loaded on, including:
•   IP Speaker Interface with background music and paging capabilities
•   SIP Paging Gateway with zone control and BGM support
•   IP Door Station, Intercom or Emergency Help point
•   SIP-based security monitoring device for surveillance applications
Relay outputs available on certain Barix devices can be used to select paging zones (outputs) and activate door strikes, while contact closure inputs can ring destinations and initiate “hang ups,” etc.

The SIP application source code can be requested for easy modification by system programmers, integrators and end users to match specific application requirements.  It works under the free programming environment for custom applications and the implementation of protocols and control algorithms on Barix IP audio and control devices, including the new Barionet 50.

All Barix products are inexpensive, low-power devices that are scalable to the growth of the operation; offer reliability through a PC-FREE design with no moving parts; and serve as a flexible platform for integration into virtually any operation requiring audio transport and delivery.  Barix also offers its programmable BCL standard open to all customers to easily tailor applications for specific needs.  Local control, audio relay, and low-latency streaming are a few examples of custom programs using Barix’ BCL software environment.
