Clear Lake Regional Medical Center Announces Expansion

June 3, 2010 - PRLog -- Webster, Texas, June 3, 2010 – The Heart and Vascular Hospital at HCA affiliated Clear Lake Regional Medical Center today announced that the facility will begin a $17 million expansion project – adding an additional 72 private rooms and dedicated specialized services to better facilitate work-flow and patient needs.

The expansion will add a dedicated radiology unit with all digital diagnostics and ultrasound, including a new 64-Slice Cardiac CT – the latest in noninvasive cardiac imaging technologies. A dedicated pharmacy will facilitate the needs of cardiovascular patients.  Additionally, a Dialysis Unit will be located in the expanded facility, and Respiratory Therapy will relocate from its current first floor location at the main hospital to the renovated sixth floor, allowing easier access and greater efficiency.

Along with new technology, the expansion will increase square footage by 50,000 square feet and complete floors five and six of The Heart and Vascular Hospital. The additional private rooms, service expansions and innovative work-flow plans are part of the hospital’s commitment to provide high-level cardiovascular services in a friendly, comfortable environment.

The Heart and Vascular Hospital at Clear Lake Regional Medical Center is a leading provider of overall cardiac services in the southeast Houston area and is the only facility dedicated to heart and vascular care in this region. The state-of-the-art hospital services a population area of more than 1.5 million and features three operating rooms for open-heart surgery and other heart and vascular procedures, four cardiac catheterization labs, a 23-bed pre- and post-recovery area for catheterization lab and operating room patients, and an 8-bed Cardiovascular Critical Care Unit. It also includes 60 private inpatient telemetry rooms, a 14-bed Coronary Care Unit, an 18-bed accredited Chest Pain Unit, and a Cardiac Rehab Unit. Expert cardiovascular surgeons perform procedures ranging from coronary artery bypass to minimally invasive valve repair and replacement.  

When complete, the facility will encompass 305,000 square feet. The expansion will begin in August 2010, with a projected completion date of February 2011.
