May 31, 2010 - PRLog -- Just few weeks after the award of 3G licences to several private mobile network operators, India is now preparing for 4G services rollout by next year according to a source closer to the file stating : “The recommendations of TRAI and DoT would be discussed in detail and 4G can be expected in place by next year“.

As a result, the Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI) is expected to release a consultation paper on the roll out of 4G (LTE) spectrum, though allocation of 3G spectrum is yet to be completed.

Commenting on the issue, TRAI Chairman J. S. Sarma, said: “We will ready with a consultation paper on 4G in a week and expect the regulations to be in place in the next few months,” He also added that the consultation paper will focus on addressing issues such as adoption of an optic fibre network, cost of bandwidth, tariffs and the relationship between telecom service providers and internet service providers.
