May 30, 2010 - PRLog -- When planning retirement, more and more Americans are considering inexpensive home options; however, a comparison between homes some of the most affordable cities in the U.S. and La Paz Real Estate will show that some pleasant Mexico Homes near a beautiful beachfront actually provide an attractive option for retirees.

Let's consider the two most affordable cities in the U.S., a tie between Youngstown, Ohio and Indianapolis, according to a recent study; the cheaper real estate of the two cities is to be found in Youngstown, with an average home price of $69,000. Considering the option of a Mexico Retirement in La Paz, a buyer can find a quaint home in a pleasant neighborhood for even less than this only a little over $60,000! While a home at this price would not be directly on the beachfront, it is only a short drive away, a home for this price could be found near a new shopping mall, with movie theaters, excellent shopping as well as restaurants and bars. And can life in Youngstown, Ohio really compare to the year round warm weather and warm culture of La Paz, Mexico?

Other advantages offered by La Paz are that the cost of living in Mexico is noticeably cheaper than living in the U.S. Retirees will notice the difference in everything from the electricity bill to groceries and furniture purchases.

Perhaps more importantly is that medical services are only a fraction of the cost in Mexico – estimated between 50%-70% lower – and Mexico's private hospitals have up-to-date, modern equipment, rated by the World Health Organization to be of equal quality with private U.S. hospitals. Many Americans already living in La Paz consider the level of service and client attention to be even better, with doctors who take time to sit down and discuss your health with you.

According to that same study that rated Indianapolis and Youngstown at #1, Syracuse, Dayton Ohio and Grand Rapids Michigan rounded off the top 5; the average home price in these three cities is about $90,000 to $100,000. Besides several homes just under this price range, similar to the one mentioned above, for only half a step up in price – about $150,000, in La Paz retirees can have a beautiful 3 bedroom home with several bathrooms with a large yard, many fruit trees and plenty of parking space.

For anyone looking at a more expensive retirement property, the study listed the 5 least affordable houses as New York, San Francisco, Honolulu, Santa Ana, Cal., and Los Angeles, with median home prices around $450,000. For this price La Paz offers retirees a condo directly overlooking the ocean, with a pool, walking distance to a golf course, tennis courts and the marina. While the cost of living is considerably more expensive in the pricier U.S. cities, living in La Paz is still very affordable, even living in a more expensive beachfront condo.

If you are planning your retirement, and living near the beach in a warm climate with a very community sounds appealing, consider retiring in La Paz.
