May 25, 2010 - PRLog -- Now in its fifth year, the Marton ‘Long Nose Day’ and Fun Dog Show takes place on Saturday 19 and Sunday 20 June 2010, behind the village hall in Marton, near Gainsborough.  Both days open at 11am for entries and judging starts at 12.30pm.

On Saturday 19June the ‘Long Nose Day’ is dedicated to greyhounds. Owners have the chance to show off their hounds and enter show classes like ‘Handsomest Dog’ and ‘Most Appealing Eyes.’

Sunday 20 June is open to all breeds of dogs and has three show categories; ‘Greyhounds’, ‘Lurchers and Long Dogs’ and ‘All Other Breeds.’  Classes include: ‘Puppy’, ‘Veteran’, ‘Cross Breeds and Mongrels’, ‘Nicest Head’ and ‘Happy Families’ (dogs and people).

Kev Stow, of Lincolnshire Greyhound Trust, said: “The Long Nose Day and the Fun Dog Show are always a great day out for families and dog lovers.  The weekend gives people the chance to meet fellow dog lovers and to find out more about greyhounds and the work of the Trust.”

The show also has plenty of other ‘have a go’ activities for dogs and their owners. If your dog loves to run and jump there is a chance to take part in speed jumping and try your hand and your dog’s paws at canine agility in the ‘Have A Go Agility’ ring.  Keen photographers can also enter snaps of their dogs in the photography competition, with categories of ‘I’m looking at you’ and ‘Party animal.’

Commenting on the show’s growing success, organiser, Sharon Lake said; ‘Each year, the show goes from strength to strength.  It’s definitely not a stuffy event - the main emphasis is definitely on having fun!  It’s lovely to see owners and their dogs all joining in and enjoying themselves.’

Entry to the show is free and entry to classes is £1 per class.  All money raised over the weekend goes towards the supporting the work of the Lincolnshire Greyhound Trust. To find out more about the show visit: www.lincolnshiregreyhoundtrust.com or call Sharon Lake on: 01427 838618.
