WPCI honors Puckey with Kate Milner Rabb Award

Tara Puckey, owner of tara puckey freelance, was awarded the Kate Milner Rabb Award by Woman's Press Club of Indiana (WPCI). It is the organizations highest honor.

May 21, 2010 - PRLog -- Puckey received the award on May 15 at the organization's annual awards luncheon in Vevay.

Rabb was WPCI president from 1929 to 1931 and a columnist for the Indianapolis Star until her death in 1937.  In addition her column, "A Hoosier Listening Post," Rabb also wrote essays, books and a historical novel about early Indiana towns.

The Rabb Award has been given since 1962 for excellence in journalism and service to the profession and organization.  Previous recipients include award-winning Indiana photographer Ruth Chin and Hortense Myers, an Indiana political reporter.

A Muncie native, Puckey attends the IUPUI School of Journalism.  She is also the owner of tara puckey freelance and a regular contributor for AmeriForce Publishing.  In addition to her membership in WPCI, she also sits on the national board of the Society of Professional Journalists.
