| Miss Scotland unveils top ladies prize at Ayr RacecourseThe top ladies’ prize in British horse racing has been unveiled at Ayr Racecourse by reigning Miss Scotland Katharine Brown.
The fabulous Vauxhall NEW Astra 5-door 1.4 turbo, sponsored by Kerr & Smith/Iveco Trucks, will be won by one very lucky lady at the William Hill (Ayr) Ladies Day Final at Ayr Racecourse on 17 September. But even such a great prize was dwarfed by the biggest truck in the UK – the Iveco Strator 44 Ton articulated Tractor unit which also attracted Katharine’s attention. Its the third year Kerr & Smith/Iveco have sponsored the prize and Jim Smith, MD of Kerr & Smith which has branches in Cumnock, Ayr and Glasgow, and this year celebrates its 35th anniversary, commented: “It’s a competition we enjoy being part of and its fitting to launch it with the first appearance in the UK of the Iveco Strator 44 Ton Articulated Tractor Unit which is sure to attract lots of attention on the road. The new unit will be operated by Billy Bowie Tankers.” The format of this year’s competition remains the same, with best dressed ladies at a variety of racedays throughout the year including Saints & Sinners Night, Scottish Sun Race Day and Ladies Night winning a bronze coin. Coins will also be awarded on William Hill (Ayr) Gold Cup Ladies Day itself and 27 ladies will have a coin and will each be asked to draw the name of a horse running in the William Hill (Ayr) Bronze Cup that day will land the star prize. Runners-up prize is a fabulous cruise from Stewart Travel, who have branches throughout Ayrshire and who have also been involved with William Hill (Ayr) Gold Cup Ladies Day for several years.
