Share Our Shoes Barefoot Fundraiser/Shoeraiser on Sunday May 2nd.

April 30, 2010 - PRLog -- Raleigh, NC (April 30, 2010) - Share Our Shoes (SOS) is inviting the public to its Raleigh facility for an afternoon of family fun to benefit a great cause.  Details are as follows:

Event: Share Our Shoes Barefoot Fundraiser/Shoeraiser
Date/Time: Sunday May 2nd, 1:30pm - 4:30pm
Location: Share Our Shoes parking lot, 1107 Capital Blvd. in Raleigh.
Cost:  Event is free to the public.  Raffle and ride tickets cost $1 with proceeds to benefit Share Our Shoes’ Project Home and Project Haiti.

The SOS Barefoot Fundraiser/Shoeraiser will feature live music from Boe Edens (Dixie Driver Band) & friends and inflatable obstacle courses and rides from Triangle Inflatables, and much more.

The event will feature a special appearance by Heba and Ed, the winners of the NBC’s "The Biggest Loser".  They will be available to sign autographs and will be raffling off, on behalf of Rapid Fitness, five $100.00 gift cards.  In addition we’ll be raffling off Film & TV Acting Classes from Maultsby Model & Talent Agency and gift cards from Raleigh Running Outfitters.  Additional sponsorship and support is being provided by Triangle Town Center & Raleigh Fellowship Church.

SOS encourages people attending Sunday’s event to bring shoes to donate to help people in need in the Triangle and around the world.  Anyone donating a pair of shoes will get a free ride ticket (limit one per family).  Anyone donating 20 or more pairs of shoes, or $20 or more, will receive a free Share Our Shoes t-shirt and a complimentary raffle ticket.

“With the recent launch of Project Home we've had dozens of people come into our facility who are desperately in need of shoes.  Unfortunately, we've been unable to help many of these people simply because we don't have the correct size or type of shoes for them.  It’s unfortunate when we have to turn people away, but we always take their information so that we can contact them when we get shoes in for them.  The goal of the SOS Barefoot Fundraiser/Shoeraiser is to collect shoes to eliminate this backlog of need and build up a fresh supply of shoes for those in need in our community.  Proceeds from this event will also help SOS cover freight costs for an upcoming shipment of shoes to Haiti.” says Assistant Director Lynda Barton.
