Garage Door Not Working?

Troubleshooting for Access Garage Door operators

April 28, 2010 - PRLog -- Has your garage door stopped working? If you encounter problems with your AGDR automated garage door system, always check for obvious possibilities first. Ensure that the batteries in your remote are still in working order. Secondly, make certain that you are not experiencing a power outage or tripped electricity. Thirdly, make sure that all operator plugs are firmly inserted. These common errors are often the cause of malfunctioning garage doors.

If all of these factors are in order, you may be experiencing a fault with your automated operator. Access Garage Doors and Repairs offers troubleshooting tips for common garage door concerns:

Your garage door will not open or close
1. Press the wall button and look at your operator rail to see whether or not the belt is moving.
2. If you notice that the belt is moving, it indicates that your operator has been disengaged and has switched to manual mode.
3. Next, you will have to re-engage your operator. Pull the red emergency cord at a 45 degree angle, away from your door.
4. Find the 2 small torpedoes that are located on one side of the belt. Press and hold the wall button and watch as the torpedoes move along the belt towards the trolley (the black connector that the red emergency cord hangs from). After the torpedoes pass through the trolley, they should catch and re-engage your garage door.

   1. If the torpedoes do not re-engage the door, it means that the trolley is not placed in the locked position.
   2. Repeat steps 3 and 4 to re-engage your operator.

Your transmitter only works if you are very close to your garage door
1. Make sure that your antenna is hanging down at the back of your operator.
2. If the cord is found on top of the motor, let it hang down from the back of the motor. Now you should be able to use your remote up to 40 feet away from the operator.

Your garage door opens but will not close
1. Look for the 2 safety sensors that are located at the bottom of your garage door opening.
2. One of the sensors should display a solid red light and the other, a solid green light.
3. If these lights are not on, or if they are flickering, there may be an obstruction blocking the door from opening. Remove any objects from in front of, or between the sensors.
4. If there are no obstructions, dirt or cobwebs may be clouding the sensors. Clean the safety sensors carefully.
5. If you have cleaned the sensors and the problem persists, it might be that the sensors are out of alignment. Carefully adjust the sensors until they are lined up correctly and the lights on each side are solid.
