April 25, 2010 - PRLog -- Cambridge, England--The next breakfast networking meeting of the Elite Cambridge Business Circle will take place at 8am on Thursday 20 May in the boardroom of the Clydesdale Bank, Terrington House, 1st Floor 13-15 Hills Road, Cambridge, CB2 1NL, courtesy of managing partner Martin Guildford.

A buffet breakfast will be served.

As well as providing a superb opportunity for members and guests to network with other leading business men and women, the meeting will feature a presentation by the Marshall Group.

Founded in 1909 with little capital as a chauffeur drive company in Cambridge, Marshall moved into the retail motor business in 1910, obtained the Austin Distributorship for Cambridgeshire in 1920 and entered the aviation business in 1929.

With all its growth funded by ploughed-back profits, the Marshall Group remains a privately owned family Company, with a turnover approaching £750M per annum.

The Group of Companies is chaired by the third generation of the Marshall family, and employs members of the fourth generation.  The Group currently employs just under 4,000 people working in the fields of aerospace engineering, design and manufacture of specialist vehicle applications, military mobility shelters and hospital surgical units, motor vehicle sales and after sales support, refrigerated transport sales and support; and property ownership and management.

Marshall Aerospace is one of Europe’s leading privately-owned aerospace companies and employs 1,700 people.

Terry Holloway (pictured above), Group Support Executive for the Marshall Group of Companies, will be tracing the history and background of Marshall of Cambridge, which was founded in Cambridge on 1 October 1909.  He will be particularly addressing the ethos, culture and philosophy of this privately owned family company, which employs just under four thousand people and turns over £750M per year, as well as outlining some of the Group of Companies hopes and aspirations for the future.

Norman Geddes and Murdoch MacDonald, chairman and managing director respectively of the Elite Cambridge Business Circle said: “We are delighted that the Marshall Group, a company whose name has long been synonymous with Cambridge, will be giving a presentation at our forthcoming meeting. It will be an interesting and enlivening occasion, and definitely one not to miss.”
