April 22, 2010 - PRLog -- If you're looking for a method to find out how to unlock PSP, there are a couple things you need to think about first. The most important, do you prefer to do a software mod using some software and files, or do you want to do a hard-mod with a mod chip? I personally prefer to never install a hard-mod and always stay with software for a lot of reasons. I will go over these below and then show you exactly how to unlock PSP without any risk.

Mod chips do work and will help you unlock your PSP, but there are a good amount of risks that comes with installing them. The biggest risk is that a chip will void your warranty. I know the last thing you need is to have something mess up with your PSP and not be able to send it into Sony to get repaired. Now you're going to have to spend a fair amount of cash on another PSP.

Another reason you shouldn't use a mod chip when figuring out how to unlock PSP is that they are rather hard to install. You're going to need to take apart the PSP, alter some of the wires and hardware inside of it, put the mod chip in there, and then put it all back together. The probability of committing an error is pretty high whenever you decide to alter hardware inside of a gaming console. If you commit even one tiny mistake, you might be left with a bricked PSP that isn't going to work again.

Hard-mods are also not reversible. As soon as you've done a hardware mod with your PSP, you can't go back and uninstall it. So that means if something were to go wrong or you simply no longer prefer to have the PSP modded, you can't do anything about it.

So as you can see, the negatives to using a hardware mod are much greater than the positives and that's why I recommend you should always use a software modification. Choosing a soft-mod to unlock your PSP is a lot easier and more safe to perform. It's as easy as finding the required software online, downloading them and saving them to a memory stick, and then uploading the files into your PSP.

Software also does not void your warranty and the probability of bricking your PSP is really low. Even if something were to go wrong, it's going to be a lot easier to fix the problem since you can always uninstall the software you put onto the PSP and it will be running just fine.

I hope you now see why it's a potential problem to perform a hard-mod when you're first learning how to unlock PSP and you realize how safe and simple it is to just use files.
