First Ever "Make Your Own Book" Store Opens In New York City

April 19, 2010 - PRLog -- New York, N.Y.--Scribble Press, the first ever make-your-own-book store will hold its grand opening from 10am to 6pm on April 24 at 1624 First Avenue at 84th Street.  A unique entertainment venue, Scribble Press is the only place where kids can write and illustrate their stories and leave the store with a beautiful and exceptional quality bound book.  

“When we opened our first store in California in 2008 we wanted to create a place where children and families could return to the basics of imagination and creativity, while at the same time instilling in children a love of reading and writing,” says Anna Barber, co-founder and CEO.

Barber, together with partner Darcy Pollack, imagined a place where creativity and self-expression would be celebrated.  Scribble Press is a playful studio environment for children and adults, stocked with high quality art supplies perfect for cultivating budding young storytellers.  State of the art printing and binding equipment is all on site.

“I grew up writing stories and making my own books, and I still cherish them,” continues Barber. “As a mother, I’ve seen firsthand how creating books and developing a love of reading go hand-in-hand. Some of my most special moments with my kids have been reading books that they have created themselves.”

Since opening, Scribble Press has expanded its product offerings so that children of all ages can transform their inspiration into books, notepads, placemats and much more, all while they wait.

Hailed as a “Best Kids’ Party Place 2008” by LA Parent, Scribble Press also has an extensive party program for both children and adult birthdays and other special events, as well as offering a full schedule of classes, ranging from “Colors of My World” for toddlers to Graffiti Art and Comic Books for older kids.  It’s also a place to bring your child’s artwork so it can be scanned and transformed into a beautiful gallery book that will stand the test of time.
