Prestige Network employees awarded NVQ certificates as part of Train to Gain programme

Turkish-born Meryem Munro and Hungerian-born Suzie Czuczor have been awarded NVQ certificates as part of the Government's Train to Gain programme.

April 12, 2010 - PRLog -- Two West Berkshire employees have been presented with NVQ level 2 certificates - one in team leading and one in customer service - as part of the Government’s Train to Gain programme.

Meryem Munro, who is Turkish, and Suzie Czuczor, who is Hungarian, both signed up for training when it was offered to them at work at language services company Prestige Network.

Now Meryem, Prestige Network’s Operations Manager, has received her NVQ level 2 in team leading and Suzie, Prestige Network’s Interpreting Supervisor, has an NVQ level 2 in customer service.

Shohreh Fleming, the company’s Chief Executive, signed the National Skills Pledge in summer 2009. The Pledge is a voluntary, public commitment made by an organisation to invest in the skills of its workforce.

Prestige Network’s General Manager, Maria Wallin, said: “These NVQ level 2s were both done under the Train to Gain banner. By making the National Skills Pledge, we demonstrated our commitment to raise our staff’s skills in line with the needs of our business. Improved skills boost the confidence of our staff and increase the productivity and efficiency of our organisation.

“This is a good example of a Government incentive working to highlight two employees’ abilities by providing them with the means to gain a qualification which recognises and cements their skills. These NVQs were an excellent way of Meryem and Suzie bridging the gap between what they had learnt in their home countries and over here.”

Meryem and Suzie each spent a year doing the training for their NVQs on site at Prestige Network’s head office in Thatcham, with everything being tied into their daily work.

Meryem said: “It was great to be offered the opportunity to get this NVQ in team leading under my belt. It is really helping in my day to day work as Operations Manager.”

Suzie said: “I talk to people every day on the phone and it’s given me a lot of confidence to know that I have the skills and qualification to provide the best service I can for our customers.”

Maria added: “We have carried on investing in training during the recession, unlike many companies, because it gives staff more confidence and also improves our competitive position.”

Prestige Network caters for language and communications needs in the public sector (including government departments, the NHS, charities, the police, local authorities and other public organisations) as well as the commercial sector.
