April 12, 2010 - PRLog -- Orlando, Florida  - Timelines, Inc., the leader in recording and sharing history on the Web, announced the launch of Timelines SE, a 100% outsourced, custom branded service that helps news websites better organize, present and monetize past content such as articles, photos and videos.  Unlike an archive service, which is a repository exclusively focused on past content, Timelines SE helps news sites’ readers discover past content as they are onsite consuming current news.

Four major newspaper sites have recently partnered with Timelines to use the service in the sports news category, including The Boston Globe’s Boston.com, (for example, see the Boston Celtics implementation: http://timelines.boston.com/celtics); The Chicago Sun-Times’ SunTimes.com (see the Chicago Cubs implementation: http://timelines.suntimes.com/cubs); The Milwaukee Journal Sentinel’s JSOnline.com;  and The New York Daily News’ NYDailyNews.com.

Timelines SE provides key benefits to three primary stakeholders of news websites:
•   For readers, the service makes past content more readily available and presents it in an intuitive, easy-to-navigate manner using timelines, maps and lists;
•   For editors and writers, Timelines SE increases the resource value of past content by extending its useable shelf life; and
•   For publishers and website general managers, the service is created with the look and feel of the partner’s site and increases the website’s value by generating more pageviews and increasing readers’ time spent on site.

“Timelines SE is an innovative service that helps us showcase our depth of content to our readers,” said Matt Pepin, Sports Editor at Boston.com.  “The presentation is clean and attractive, and the related widgets add a lot of value to our site.  Additionally, the service requires a minimal amount of my team’s time to maintain.”

“News organizations are the primary recorders of history in local markets, and they make a tremendous investment in covering the news each and every day,” said Bob Armour, CEO of Timelines. “Timelines helps these organizations generate ongoing value from this investment with virtually no internal commitments of technology or labor.  We are thrilled to be partnered with these companies.”

Timelines made this announcement at the Newspaper Association of America’s annual mediaXchange show in Orlando, where the company is exhibiting in booth 707.

Timelines offers two other services: Timelines.com, http://www.timelines.com, for individuals and entities that want to reach and interact with a broad audience about publicly shared events; and LifeSnapz.com, http://www.lifesnapz.com, for families and other trusted groups that want a more controlled, permission-based environment for recording and sharing their events.
