By: Debra Marsteller Next Friday the 16th of April, local legislators will meet with honored employers, advocates, family members and human service organizations at Santa Ana Country Club to share breakfast and stories of hope and fulfillment. Organized by the Orange County Caucus of California Disability Service Association members, the goal is to help legislators understand the impact of local non profits on the lives of people they support. Invited guests include employers, families, self advocates and representatives from six legislative offices, currently including: Jim Silva, Chuck DeVore, Diane Harkey, Bob Huff, Tom Harman, Van Tran, and Mimi Walters. Organizers are members of the California Disability Services Association. They collaborate often to better serve people with disabilities in Orange County. The following agencies will be recognizing exemplary Orange County employers at the breakfast: Orange County Goodwill: Oakley Vocational Visions: City of Mission Viejo California Elwyn: Huntington Pet Vet OCARC: Nobel Biocare USA Project Independence: CDSA is a 501©6 non profit with 100 member agencies serving adults with developmental disabilities in California. The Orange County Caucus includes California Elwyn, OCArc, Goodwill, Project Independence and Vocational Visions. # # # Project Independence and Vantage Foundation, both established in 1977 as 501(c)3 nonprofits, joined forces in 2007. Today, Project Independence offers comprehensive services in Orange County, to over 750 people with developmental disabilities. End
