77% Of People Aren’t On The Right Mobile Phone Tariff For Them

28% of people questioned by the UK’s leading mobile phone comparison website claim their mobile phone bill is one of their biggest monthly outgoings and 77% said they could save money if they could go on a different tariff.

March 31, 2010 - PRLog -- The UK’s leading mobile phone price comparison website www.rightmobilephone.co.uk commissioned research of 1,457 people with a contract phone and found that over three quarters of the respondents felt they were on the wrong deal and could be saving money on a different tariff.

Just under a third, 31%, of the people asked said they regularly went over their limit of minutes, meaning their bill was more than it should be, whilst 46% said they never used all of their allocated minutes. Only 23% of the people polled by http://www.rightmobilephone.co.uk said their tariff was “just right”.

Rightmobilephone.co.uk is encouraging consumers to review the tariff that they are on and to consider all their options and deals before renewing their existing contract. The site, which helps users to compare more than 600,000 mobile phone offers, is hoping more people will look into getting the best deal possible when it comes to renewing their mobile phone contract.

49% of people said they simply opted for the tariff that the sales person suggested whilst 9% said they only went on contract to get the free gift or handset that came with the deal.

“The fact that 77% of the people we spoke to said they thought they could save money if they were on a different tariff goes to show the importance of consumers researching a deal before they sign on the dotted line. It’s easy to go for the first offer you find or are suggested by sales staff, so we think it’s important for people to use comparison platforms like ours to get the best deal for them.”

He continued, “Last year, we helped 50,000 people find the best mobile phone deal for them, but want even more to realise the savings potential by comparing deals before they commit to a tariff that could be the wrong offer for them. We don’t want consumers to miss a trick when it comes to cutting down on their monthly outgoings.”
