Three-Day Functional Safety Training Event Explains IEC 61518 & IEC 61511

March 23, 2010 - PRLog -- NEWTOWN, CT and BOXBOROUGH, MA — TÜVRheinland®, the worldwide leader in global market access, will host a three-day Functional Safety Program.  The event will provide classroom instruction in the area of functional safety according to IEC 61508, IEC 61511 and other relevant international standards.  This program targets engineers and product managers with functional safety responsibilities and individuals seeking a deeper understanding in the field of functional safety.  

Functional Safety and its national derivative standards are revolutionizing all traditional fields of safety design and testing. Understanding these new standards is essential for anyone involved in the design, commissioning, management, maintenance, litigation and assessment of devices, machines and plants.

The program will take place June 7-10 at TÜVRheinland’s Functional Safety Division, 1300 Mass. Ave., in Boxborough, Mass.  Leading the seminar will be Heinz Gall, the manager of the business sector “Automation, Software and Information Technology” of  TÜVRheinland Industrie Service GmbH and Matthias Haynl, the Business Field Manager for Functional Safety at TÜVRheinland, who has international experience in functional safety for the machinery and process industries.

Engineers who have been working in the field of functional safety have the option to obtain an official verification of their expertise. By successfully passing a final exam on the optional fourth day, they can receive a TÜVRheinland Functional Safety Engineer certificate.
