Shower Manager is used to control showering times, where low-flow shower heads fall short.

March 21, 2010 - PRLog -- Denver, CO  Global Network Solutions, LLC recently announced their residential model  Shower Manager has been modified for use in EDU Dormitory and Recreational facilities.  “These modifications make the use of the Shower Manager a key component for controlling showering times in dormitories,” says Don Brunkhardt, Founder of the company.

The Shower Manager is an automated shower timer device that not only times showers, but also cuts the water flow when that time limit is up.  The residential model has 3 full-flow time settings, 5, 8 or 11 minutes.  When the full-flow time setting expires, the unit cuts the water flow by 2/3, leaving just enough to finishing rinsing, but not enough to encourage continued showering.   When the water is turned off, the unit goes into a 5-minute reset interval that allows only the restricted flow.  This reset interval prevents the user from extending a full-flow shower.

The EDU / REC Model is different in two ways.  First there are just two full-flow settings, 5 and 7 minutes, but the real change is in the reset interval.  The EDU / REC Model has a 60-second reset interval as compared to the 5-minute on the residential model.  The reason for this shorter reset interval is to avoid penalizing the next shower taker in a high-use showering environment.

Brunkhardt goes on to say these modifications were made in working directly with EDU / REC facilities managers.  Facility managers say the low-flow shower heads they had previously installed to cut back on excessive water use are not entirely effective. They say the students are still taking 10 to 20 minute showers, which far exceeds the 5-minute guideline recommended by water providers. Facility managers feel the Shower Manager provides the best technology available to control shower times and eliminate runaway showering and the resultant excessive water and energy charges.

GNS, LLC is a US based company that has spent the past 10 years perfecting their shower timer control device. They hold two patents on their units with a third and fourth pending.  Their manufacturing facility is located in Loveland, CO. Their market is worldwide with units being sold and used in residential applications, dorms, rec facilities, hotels, zoos (for the handlers), hospital ships, country clubs, camp grounds, correctional facilities, etc.   Mr. Brunkhardt states that even with the increased demand by EDU / REC facilities; the primary use of their product is still parents with teenagers.
