March 10, 2010 - PRLog -- Austin based Smiley Media has commissioned Portland based SOLIDCORE (solidcore.tv) to create an organic team meeting space made from local Texas Oak and Willow in their new corporate headquarters on the 16th floor of 710 Brazos, co-location of the Downtown Austin Omni Hotel.

SOLIDCORE, a sustainably focused furniture, product and environmental design firm will be in Austin from April 5th -11th to build the nest-like conference space for Smiley Media. This highly non-conventional meeting space, fondly named "Aerie" will seat 8-10 Smiley team members in a soft, wool upholstered sofa group collected around a shared low table group and surrounded 360 degrees by the 20 foot diameter, 12 foot tall woven Texas branches and twigs.  The Smiley space will be an adaptation of the widely published "Nest" created for Portland Oregon advertising agency, Wieden+Kennedy
several years ago.

For this project SOLIDCORE founder and design director Bill Fritts with his creative team of Michael Wilson and Julian Paul, all SOLIDCORE designers, will spend one week on location working by hand with local Texas Oak and willow branches sourced from within 25 miles of Austin.

We invite your team to come experience the creation of this new type of conference/ meeting room live while the weaving is taking place: talk, inspire and capture a view as the Aerie comes to life .
